Sign of times – ties and protein powder

Interesting to read that ties have been removed from Japan’s basket of items to compute Consumer Price Index. It shows a shift of convention in people’s dressing to work. Ties are no longer expected to be worn as part of an employee’s dress code at work. Ties are not the only items removed from the basket. Women’s clothing tights and stockings have been removed too.

Conversely, items that have been added include, interestingly, are protein powder and pet insurance. The full article from Financial Times is reproduced below.
